Suzuki Leōcor proposes GUM Wikia initiative

Suzuki Leōcor, creator of Sunþrawegaz Kuningadōmas, a simulationist observer state of the Grand Unified Micronational, proposed a motion to the Quorum of the GUM on the 30th of September that would expand the GUM’s outreach to micronations in the Wikia sphere.

“This motion has been proposed in order to help facilitate an eventual reunification between the micronational communities that reside on the two domains of www.micronations.wiki and www.micronations.wikia, commonly referred to as the Wiki and Wikia communities, respectively,” Leocor wrote in the foreword to her motion, the substantive content of which is over 750 words long. “A movement was initiated on 2 May 2018 by the name of the Greater Community Project, hereafter to be referred to as the GCP, in order to begin the process of said reunification.”

The motion itself establishes a new institution of the GUM, the Greater Community Project Quorum, chaired by the membership of the Supreme Court of the GUM. The motion gives it the responsibility to “further advance cooperation between the two communities, and assist in working out details of the proposed reunification process”. It limits the size of this Quorum to 24 members, 12 each from the Wiki and Wikia communities, with an additional seat for Austenasian Emperor Jonathan I as an “un-elected representative of both communities”. It is somewhat vague how the motion intends for representatives to be chosen; it mandates for them to be selected “democratically”, but does not set out a specific voter-base or a specific area for these elections to take place.

Leōcor announced yesterday that “significant strides” towards the unification this proposal seeks had been made. The administration of the Wikia is now allegedly supportive of the GCP movement, though the Daily Micronational was unable to find any public statements to that effect – the only missive from the administration of the Wikia the DM was able to recover was a brief statement saying the decision was being “pondered” and might be “brought forth” in the future.

The movement itself is generally well supported by the Wiki community. Edward Daniels, then-free agent, now former President of Transterra, expressed that he was in “full support of unification“, while Thomas Merrell, the Emperor of Zenrax, issued a similar sentiment. Alexander I, Emperor of Alexostan, however, asserted that the unification process would be as slow as that of “north and South Korea” while Daniel Lee, Prime Minister of New Silla, agreed that unification was a good idea but that it would be “hard“.

The position of the GUM on the motion is unclear. There is to be another Quorum session on or around the 8th of October, but the Chair has made no public declaration that the motion sought by the GCP will be considered at that time.
