Aenderia Decides 2018: Lilylandian Broadcasting Corporation fabricates poll, Eden takes the lead across the board
The Lilylandian Broadcasting Company, headed by Maximilian Schröder, vice presydential candidate and former Presydent Russell Gilzem’s running mate in the upcoming Aenderian election, released a fabricated poll.
The Lilylandian Broadcasting Company, headed by Maximilian Schröder, vice presydential candidate and former Presydent Russell Gilzem’s running mate in the upcoming Aenderian election, released a fabricated poll.
LBC released the poll less than ten minutes after announcing they intended to perform one, and the poll ultimately put Horatio Eden ahead by four points at 57%, placing his Democratic rival at 53%.
The Eden campaign quickly pointed out that these two figures made 110%, at which point Mr. Schröder acknowledged his mistake but did not withdraw the poll, pictured below. The poll was not sourced, outside of a vague reference to “LBC/ATPOLL”, and misspells Presydent Horatio Eden’s name as “Horaito Eden”.

A number of polling agencies have taken polls of the election. The Daily Micronational’s updated poll with a sample size of nine places the election at 55.6% to 44.4% in favour of the Eden campaign, while the Aenderian News Network, a pro-Eden organisation, puts the race at 70% to Eden and 30% to Gilzem with a sample size of ten. Gilzem’s campaign’s own polling puts the race at 64.3% to 35.7% in favour of Eden, though their organisation has not published sample sizes.
LBC later submitted a poll with a sample size of five that alleged that 75% of the public believed Gilzem to be fit for office, but also gave Eden a lead of twenty points over his competitor, placing the election at 60%/40%.
