Abeldane Vorsitzender Stephen Freayth was returned for a second term in office in a landslide as elections in Abelden closed yesterday.
He handily defeated Abeldane Social Ecology party challenge Artemis Langford, who earlier in a press conference in Aarbaro that she thought she would “win a good percentage of the vote”. She won 7 votes, a vote share of 18.4%.
Stephen Freayth, of Die Rechte, carried 31 votes, 81.6% of the vote share, providing him a renewed mandate to carry the government forward for the next few months.
The Vorsitzender election was unsurprising – the real fight was for the Stellvertretership, which was more narrowly won by Liberty Union candidate Edward Daniels, who carried 55.3% of the vote to Maxwell Pollack’s 44.7%. As a result, the Liberty Union and Die Rechte will now begin talks to form a coalition government – though as Die Rechte also controls a majority of the Reichsversammlung, posts for the Liberty Union in the cabinet will likely be exceedingly limited.
In his victory statement, Daniels made a few brief remarks:
I would llike to thank all those who supported my campaign and voted for a change in Abelden. I will be proud to serve you and will put my best foot forward for the future of this empire.
Stellvertreter-elect Edward Daniels
According to Reichswahlkommission figures 80.85% of the population turned out in this election. Two ballots were spoiled.
