Die Rechte exceed expectations in Reichsversammlung election

Die Rechte, the Abeldane party of incumbent Vorsitzender Stephen Freayth, swept the board at last night’s Reichsversammlung election.

Winning exactly 70% of the vote, they carried six of the available nine seats which gives them a guaranteed majority and – provided they win both the Vorsitzender and Stellvertreter elections – the ability to form a one-party government.

It was a bruising evening for the Liberty Union and the Abeldane Social Ecology Party; the Liberty Union scored only two seats, one less than exit polling suggested, freezing Horatio Eden out of the legislature, and the Abeldane Social Ecology party – formerly a political powerhouse – won only one seat.

One-party administrations are rare in Abelden, though in the past this has been due to the massive plurality of political parties; today, there are only three: Die Rechte, Stephen Freayth’s party, the Liberty Union, the successor to Horatio Eden’s Abeldane Liberal National Party and Pragmatic Front, and the remnants of the Abeldane Social Ecology Party of former Vorsitzender Artemis Langford.

Freayth is expected to win the Vorsitzender election handily against his only opponent, Artemis Langford. The Stellvertreter election is more up in the air, though based on polling from L’Sydunche, the Daily Micronational predicts this election will be won by the Liberty Union’s Edward Daniels.

The results of the election are as follows; per the office of the Emperor of Abelden:

Votes

Abeldane Social Ecology (ASE) – 5 = 12.5%

Die Rechte (R) – 28 = 70%

Liberty Union (LU) – 7 = 17.5%

Seats

ASE = 1
R = 6
LU = 2

Total voters: 41
Spoiled Ballots: 1
Total registered voters: 46
Turnout: 89.1%

Emperor Newton I

The elections for Vorsitzender and Stellvertreter are still ongoing.
